some women live in places where there are so few midwives that the rate of attendance at a birth is 1 in 1000 per live birth.
some children have a 160 per 1000 kids chance of dying before they reach the age of 5.
some women give birth with the very real risk that they might be the 1 in 100 in their country to die in the process.
If I can give the gift of midwifery to these same women, I will have done my job well.
